Marina at Naples Bay Resort Designated A “Clean Marina”
One of only 13 in Collier County
Naples (Paradise Coast), Florida, July 2010 … The Marina at Naples Bay Resort, on Florida’s Paradise Coast, has been officially designated a “Clean Marina” by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Clean Marina Program & The Clean Boating Partnership.
The Marina at Naples Bay Resort is the 221st Clean Marina in Florida, the 44th marina in the South District -- and only the 13th marina in Collier County to achieve this important designation. With this, 97 wet slips are added to the Florida Clean Marina community.
“We are thrilled to receive this important designation,” said Rikki Boparai, general manager of Naples Bay Resort. “A special word of congratulations is in order for John Donaldson, our dock master, and the exemplary staff at The Marina at Naples Bay Resort for their hard work in obtaining the ‘clean marina’ recognition and in keeping our property environmentally friendly.“
The Florida Clean Marina Program is a voluntary designation program with a proactive approach to environmental stewardship. Participants receive assistance in implementing best management practices through on-site and distance-based technical assistance, mentoring by other Clean Marinas, and a continuing education program.
To become designated as a Clean Marina, facilities must implement a set of environmental measures designed to protect Florida’s waterways. These measures address critical environmental issues such as sensitive habitat, waste management, storm water control, spill prevention and emergency preparedness. Designated marinas and those facilities seeking designation receive ongoing technical support from the Florida Clean Marina Program and Clean Boating. To learn more about the Florida Clean Marina Program visit www.dep.state.fl.us/cleanmarina/about.htm
The Marina at Naples Bay Resort offers 97 slips and can accommodate yachts up to 100 feet. Slips are available for rental, and boats are available for half day and full day rental through the Marina. Fishing excursions can also be arranged. The Marina also offers The Yacht Club, with its own membership, and provides a Captain's Lounge with flat-screen televisions, Internet access, weather service, shower and laundry facilities.
