Turtle Bay Resort Delivers "Hometown Hospitality" Turtle Bay Resort, Turtle Bay Golf and Spa Luana at Turtle Bay Resort employees have been busy handing out checks to a local charity and to the local library. Turtle Bay was approached late spring by some prominent local residents for a donation of cash. Director of Sales and Marketing Mike Wilkins and Vice President, General Manager and Regional Director of Operations Bob Boyle suggested something that would potentially bring in more than the resort could have actually donated in cash. Matt Hall, Director of Turtle Bay Golf, donated a golf tournament. Sales Manager Bonnie Holmbeck and Public Relations Manager Keoki Wallace helped to locate sponsors and sell tickets to the inaugural "Legends Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament." With only six weeks to work on it the tournament was still a success, bringing in $5,000, which was donated to the Ko'olauloa Educational Alliance Non Profit Corporation, an entity that assists local schools and community organizations supporting children's education and career planning. Spa Luana Director Becky Leuluai and the masseuses at Spa Luana gave chair massages in exchange for donations during the Community Fourth of July Celebration held at Turtle Bay Resort. Four hundred dollars was raised through this process, which was given to the local Kahuku Library. The library plans on using the funds to purchase new children's books that otherwise had been cut out of the library's budget. Mahalo to all those who helped us help our community. Habitat for Humanity For the past ten years the Romero's have been living in a small mobile home with their 2 children and Mr. Romero's mother. The children have no play space inside and the outside is unsafe for them to run around. Our full day of hard work put this family one day closer to moving into their 4 bedroom, 2 bath home. It is very rewarding to see the difference one can make in someone else's life. On May 14th the Home Office truly made a difference for the Romero family. Cheyenne Mountain : Swim & Spin-a-thon September 2009. CMR Team: I am pleased to announce the results for the 1st annual "Mountain of Hope" Swim & Spin-a-thon fundraiser September 12 - 13, 2009 where all proceeds benefited the Marian House Soup Kitchen. Sunday, September 13, Jose Mercedes and Hector Lopez, (AV Technicians) participated in the 2009 Susan G. Komen New York City Race for the Cure. More than 25, 000 participants gather for a 5K walk/run to support Komen's vision, and together they did their part. It was a thrilling to feel the park overflowing with such positive energy. They were delighted by the support, good will and joy they felt wherever they went on the Race Day. FACT: According to the American Cancer Society, Men don't like to think of it, in fact they don't think of it at all - that they can get breast cancer. People are for more aware of breast cancer in women, which is no surprise because they are 100 times more likely than men to get the disease. Sept 13's NYC Susan Komen walk/run race raised over $6 millions for breast cancer research and community outreach programs. Both men has participated in the Breast Cancer Race twice and it will definitely not be their last. They had a wonderful and rewarding experience at the Race working together to manifest the shared vision of a world without breast cancer. It is truly inspiring to see so many people give so freely of their time, energy and money to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease once and for all... Benchmark Racine (The Council House and Wingspread) has partnered with their local year round school for the past two years. For the Second year, they provided a bouncy house and a game as well as selling cookies to aid the school's budget for the "extras" needed in an elementary school. It was a great success as well as a ton of fun!!
